Start Here — the honest FAQ

New to edibles? These are the questions everyone has. No judgment, no gatekeeping — just straight answers.

How much should I take my first time?

Start with 2.5–5 mg of THC and wait a full 2 hours before deciding whether to take more. Edibles hit slower and harder than smoking — most bad experiences come from taking a second dose too soon. Use the dosage calculator to know how strong your batch is.

Why didn't my edibles work?

Almost always one of three things: the flower wasn't decarboxylated (the step that activates THC), the infusion ran too hot or too short, or the dose was simply low. Check your decarb temp and time first — that's the usual culprit.

How long do edibles take to kick in?

Typically 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your metabolism, what you ate, and the product. They also last much longer than smoking — often 4–8 hours. Plan your day accordingly and never redose early.

What is decarboxylation, and do I really need it?

Yes. Raw cannabis contains THCA, which doesn't get you high until heat converts it to THC. That's decarbing — gently baking your flower before you infuse it. Skip it and your edibles barely work. Full decarb guide →

What are "decarb" and "infusion efficiency" — and why doesn't the calculator ask me for decarb?

They're how much of your THC actually survives each step: not all THCA converts during decarb, and not all THC transfers into your oil or butter during infusion. To keep things simple, the calculator builds in a realistic ~75% home decarb for you (concentrates like RSO and distillate are counted as already activated), and defaults infusion to 60%, which you can fine-tune under "advanced." I took too much. What do I do?

You're safe — it's uncomfortable but it passes, and nobody has died from too much THC. Find a calm space, hydrate, try black pepper (chew a peppercorn) or a nap, and remember it ends. This is exactly why we dose with a calculator and start low.

Are edibles right for older folks or people seeking relief?

Many people come to edibles for approachable, measured relief rather than to get intensely high — and edibles are great for that because you control the dose precisely. Start at a microdose (1–2.5 mg), go slow, and talk to a doctor about your situation. The whole point of TREEDIBLES is making this approachable for everyone, however you're arriving.

Is any of this legal?

Cannabis laws vary widely by state and country and change often. This site is educational and harm-reduction only — know and follow the laws where you live.
